DAY 1 ROME

Buongiorno! Welcome to Italy. Crowded with ancient ruins and religious monuments, Rome still pulses to the beat of modern life and is packed with designer shops, restaurants, cafes and exciting nightlife.
You can arrive at any time, and we provide free transfer to Termini station. Please note that our accommodation in Rome is centrally located only a short walk from Rome Termini railway station, in a lively local neighbourhood. If you may wish to arrive a day early so you're able to, we will be happy to book additional accommodation for you.

DAY 2 ROME
12, May 2019
We explore we Rome today, by foot, metro, local bus. Get to know your way around and learn about its ancient landmarks at the same time. During a short walking tour, you'll explore Piazza Venezia and the enclave of Ancient Rome, discovering the Colosseum, Campidoglio Hill, Roman Forum, and Trajan's Forum. Stroll through centuries of history with your guide and hear the stories behind some of the capital's most iconic sights.
Enjoy all afternoon free time in Rome, if you wish, your group leader will be available for an orientation walk, taking to Vatican City and St Peter's Basilica.

DAY 3 VENICE
13, May 2019
In the morning you'll travel by train to Venice (approximately 4 hours). We check in hotel, drop the bags & go. This grand city of bridges, towers, piazzas, canals, churches and gondolas – practically unchanged for 600 years. Venice is built over a hundred small islands connected by 400 bridges. Still rich with artistic masterpieces, modern Venice combines history with contemporary life through food, performance, art and architecture.
We take a walk around the maze of streets behind San Marco Square and begin to understand the complex canal system of Venice. The Grand Canal is a great place to start, as we can stroll over the Rialto Bridge and browse the endless amounts of boutique shops that sell Venetian masks and handmade Murano glassware.

DAY 4 VENICE - PRAGUE

We leave the canals behind and take short haul flight to Czech Republic, capital Prague. A unique community where every street, ghetto, inn and theatre tells a story. If you're in the area and want to experience traditional Czech pubs, which are guaranteed to be loud, lively, and packed with locals on any night of the week, this is the place to find restaurants serving traditional Czech cuisine such as fried pork cutlets, goulash, and dumplings.

DAY 5 PRAGUE
15, May 2019
Another day in Prague and so many possibilities. You have a wanderful day to discover the Bohemian Prague; extravagant, political, passionate, and fueled with Czech Water. Learn how the Bohemian artists, writers, dissidents, and the Bohemian mentality shaped the nation. We don’t forget to sample some of the best Czech beers and traditional and modern Czech snacks along the way. In Prague remember that the Old Town at night is truly special. There are many great restaurants and pubs, some in old vaulted cellars. The nightlife in Prague is some of the best in Central Europe. Whether dance clubs, beer-halls or underground absinthe bars are your thing, there's something for everyone. The city also boasts one of Europe's most respected jazz scenes. If you find yourself out until the early hours in a jazz club, have a wander along Charles Bridge or the Old Town Square as the sun rises for magical photo opportunities.

DAY 6 PRAGUE - KRAKOW

In morning we take a scenic day train into Republic of Poland. Watch the scenery go by as you journey to Krakòw. After arrival and check in to our hotel, the leader will show you the highlights of this beautiful city on an orientation walk. With free time, opt to explore the different neighbourhoods like the Jewish section and main square. Dip into a local milk bar for a real Polish meal.

DAY 7 KRAKOW (AUSCHWITZ-BIRKENAU)
17, May 2019
Today we visit UNESCO World Heritage–listed Auschwitz-Birkenau, a former Nazi concentration camp where more than a million European Jews and other prisoners were confined or killed during Word War II. A professional guide sensitively portrays the horrors of the Holocaust as you tour the barracks, watchtowers, railway ramps, gas chambers and crematoriums at the two camps, located in Oświęcim. See poignant museum exhibits and witness moving memorials, where you’ll hear narratives by former detainees and learn of Auschwitz’s liberation in 1945. Your full-day tour includes round-trip hotel transport from Krakow.

DAY 8 KRAKOW - WARSAW

Travel to Warsaw, Poland's cultural hub, visiting quaint villages along the way. Take an orientation walk upon arrival and use the evening to explore this lively city. Warsaw is Poland's large, bustling capital, with a love of culture and art, as well as entertainment. There are numerous theatrical and musical venues, including the prestigious National Opera, the Chamber Opera and the National Theatre. As you won't have much time to explore when you arrive, perhaps head out for dinner with the group in the evening.

DAY 9 WARSAW
19, May 2019
Not long after breakfast today, head out on a short Orientation Walk and an included visit to the evocative Warsaw Uprising Museum. Opened on the 60th anniversary of the Uprising, this museum recounts the events which saw the people of Warsaw fighting against the Nazi occupation. The museum is a moving tribute to those who fought and died for independence. The rest of your day is free to do as you wish. There are plenty of other museums to browse, including the Ethnographic Museum, Marie Curie Museum and Natural History Museum. The Palace of Science and Culture Observation Deck is a great way of seeing the city of Warsaw in all of its glory. Alternatively continue to explore Warsaw's old town, rebuilt true to the original after WWII had left 85% of Warsaw in rubble. The effort was recognized by UNESCO in 1980 when it was added to the world heritage list. Make sure you also head down the Royal Mile past the university, beautiful baroque buildings and the occasional royal park.

DAY 10 WARSAW - BERLIN
20, May 2019
Leave Poland behind and cross the border into Germany today, as you head to Berlin by train (approximately 6 hours). On arrival into Berlin there won't be too much daylight left, but the city has a unique nightlife that presents delicious food, bars, pubs and clubs (if that's your thing). The Brandenburg Gate, Germany's symbol which is minted on the Euro coins, is a great place to visit at night, as the whole area is completely lit up. Other areas great for night life are the inner-city neighbourhoods of Friedrichshain, Kreuzberg and Prenzlauer Berg, perfect for all-nighters. 24-hour public transport makes venturing around the city a breeze.

DAY 11 BERLIN

Experience Berlin’s past and present on this 4-hour walking tour through the city's Mitte district. Visit landmarks from the city’s Prussian, Imperial, Nazi, Cold War and modern eras, offering insight into the evolution of this fascinating German capital. Stroll along the iconic Berlin Wall and follow Unter den Linden to the Brandenburg Gate. Then check out the rebuilt Reichstag and the Holocaust Memorial and hear the amazing stories of Cold War Berlin at Checkpoint Charlie.

DAY 12 BERLIN

Your adventure comes to an end after breakfast today. There are no more activities planned and you're able to depart the accommodation at any time. There are multiple sights and attractions to visit during your stay in Berlin, so it may be worth booking an extra couple of days accommodation so you can fit it all in.
