Today we visit the communities of San Juan Chamula and Zinancantán with a local guide and learn about this unique way of life. Are two highland villages are the home of the Tzotzil people, descendants of the ancient Mayans, and some of Mexico's most traditional indigenous communities. We visit the church, what floor is covered with pine needles, the air is full of smoke with incense. Shamans come here to carry out cleansings with firewater, ancient prayer and chickens. Villagers can be unfriendly and are wary of tourists - understandably they do not appreciate being regarded as tourist attractions.

Our journey continues to beautiful Sumidero Canyon for a relaxing boat ride. Is a narrow and deep canyon surrounded by a national park located just north of the city of Chiapa de Corzo. We also make plenty stops for the markets to buy beautiful traditional Mayan textiles.
